Frequently Asked Questions

When are my rent payments due?
Rent payments are due at the first of every month.  Payments made after the fifth of the month are subject to a $50 late fee.

Can I have a pet?
Small pets are permitted at select Akron apartments. An additional monthly pet fee of $25 and pet owner agreement must be signed before pets are allowed at your unit. (Please view our apartment listings to see which properties allow pets).

What if I plan to move?
Once your lease agreement has been fulfilled, just put your intention to vacate in writing. Written notice must be received by the first day of the month you plan to move. You will still be required to pay your last month’s rent.

Can I have a co-signer?
University of Akron students renting at 634 E. Buchtel Ave. and 525 Carroll St. may have a co-signer. Other locations do not permit co-signers.

What if my apartment needs repair work done?
We have an experienced, full-time service department to handle all of your maintenance requests. Simply place a call to the Bella Dora Management office and our crew will come fix the problem.

How long will my application take to be reviewed?
It will take approximately three days from the time you submit your documentation and $30 application fee.

Can I use my security deposit to pay my last month’s rent?
Your security deposit is held to insure your apartment is left in good condition. No part of your security deposit may be used to pay rent during your residency.

When will I get my security deposit back?
Your security deposit will be returned within 30 days of your move-out inspection. Don’t forget to provide us with your forwarding address!

What if I need to break my lease agreement?
You will be responsible for paying your rent until a new tenant is found. Let us know if you plan to break your agreement to see if we have a potential resident lined up. In the past, many tenants have had success finding someone to take over their Akron lease. Simply refer them to our office so we can qualify them and release you from your contract.

How many people can live in my apartment?
We allow two people for each bedroom in your Akron rental.

Can I paint with a different color?
Yes, you may paint the interior as long as your unit is restored to its original condition when you vacate.

What if I lock myself out?
We provide 24-hour emergency service at a small fee. Leave a message with our maintenance department and someone will come unlock your door.

Can I have a grill?
Unfortunately, due to local fire standards and safety concerns we do not allow grills or outdoor cooking at any of our properties.

Can I rent an apartment if I have been evicted in the past?
Unfortunately, we do not consider applicants that have been evicted in the past five years.

What if I change my mind, after applying?
Should an applicant cancel their tenancy, their security deposit is non-refundable.

What methods of payments do you accept?
We accept personal check and money order, all major credit cards, and tenants can also sign up to have their rent automatically withdrawn using ACH Direct Payment.

Lease Terms

All Bella Dora apartments are leased for twelve-month terms. University students are eligible for nine-month leases.

Twenty-five percent of your monthly gross income should meet your rental obligation. (If you rent an apartment for $570 a month, you should gross $570 per week).

Written proof of your income must be submitted with your application. Acceptable income documents include current pay stubs and income statements for: disability, retirement, social security, child support and alimony. Cash is not an accepted form of income unless you report this income on your tax return.

A Credit Bureau Report and Background Check will be performed for each applicant.  These reports help us to determine eligibility.

Important: A $35 service fee will be due upon entrance.

One-half of your security deposit (half of one month’s rent) is collected at the time your application is submitted. Applications are not processed until this payment is received.

Unfortunately, at this time Bella Dora Management does not participate in the Section 8 Voucher Program.
